We have been very fortunate at Digitalworkbox so we wanted to find a fun way to help out my local community in Vernon, CT (Brian and I are both from the same town though he lives in North Dakota now).
My wife saw a call for sponsors for Vernon Little League to help them pay for their season. I played baseball when I was a kid as part of that league and Brian is an avid Red Sox fan (though maybe not so much this season).
So, we sponsored a local team and got a sign put out on the field (a local company donated the sign as part of their arrangement which is pretty cool). Here’s how it looks.
Obviously, there are great global organizations like Charity Water that need help getting clean drinking water to folks all over the globe. I don’t think this will be our only donation but we wanted to take our good fortune in the digital realm and make a local donation to help folks from our hometown. (The goal here wasn’t exposure since most local folks won’t be looking for a remote team chat application with their primarily tech-based company.)
Hopefully, as Digitalworkbox and Simmer continue to grow, we can let our employees choose how to divvy up their portion of the donation pie. We want to help make a difference because a little bit of money can go a long way. Sometimes, in a digital bytes-and-bits world, it can be pretty easy to forget that.
